Set sail on the Greenland Solar Eclipse 2026, a 13-day Arctic expedition that begins in Reykjavík and carries you through East and South Greenland for one of the rarest natural phenomena of all: a total solar eclipse framed by fjords, glaciers, and remote wilderness.

On August 12, 2026, you’ll drift into position along the Blosseville Coast in East Greenland. Anchored near shore on a sheltered landing beach, you’ll have unobstructed views toward the western sky. As the moon’s shadow races in—bringing two minutes and seventeen seconds of totality—you’ll feel daylight dim, cliffs and icebergs glow in twilight colors, and the Arctic hushed under the eclipse’s silence.

After the spectacle, the voyage unfolds southward along the East Greenland coastline: glaciers spilling from the Watkins Mountains, the rugged fjords of Skjoldungen, and the vivid culture of Tasiilaq, where Inuit traditions run deep. You’ll move through Prins Christian Sund—a glacier-lined channel hugged by sheer peaks—and explore South Greenland’s green pastures, the ancient vestiges of Norse settlement, and the vibrant capital of Nuuk.

The journey winds on through Evighedsfjord (“Fjord of Eternity”), with its deep fjord walls and glacier fronts, before concluding in Kangerlussuaq. Each landing, each hike, each whale or iceberg sighting adds to a narrative of sky, land, and magic.

Not sure if this celestial expedition is the one for you? Be sure to visit our broader Destination Arctic overview — it’s helpful for choosing the right departure, knowing what to expect out of your expedition, sorting out the styles and experiences that speak to you.

Why stop the journey at one epic moment? Extend your story with pre- or post-voyage escapes through Mexico, Panama, or even the legendary Cuba by exploring North South Journeys — because some moments deserve to become chapters in a bigger adventure.
