The Terra Nova Adventurer is an ice-strengthened expedition ship designed for authentic small-ship exploration in Antarctica. With more than 600 polar voyages completed, the vessel combines proven expedition capabilities with comfortable accommodation and welcoming communal spaces. Although built to accommodate more passengers, Terra Nova Expeditions limits its voyages to an average of just 98 guests, creating a more personal onboard experience and allowing efficient access to shore landings and activities.
The ship offers 63 outside-facing cabins and suites, ranging from Discovery Triple and Quad Cabins to Superior Cabins, dedicated Single Cabins, Deluxe Cabins and spacious Premium Suites. Every cabin includes a private en-suite bathroom and either a window or porthole.
Between excursions, passengers can relax in the lounges, visit the well-stocked library or attend presentations in the lecture lounge. Additional facilities include a restaurant, bar, spa, sauna, outdoor jacuzzi, gym and generous exterior observation decks. A dedicated mudroom supports smooth preparation for Zodiac excursions and shore landings.
With 14 Zodiacs and RIBs, the Terra Nova Adventurer is equipped to get passengers off the ship and into the Antarctic environment efficiently. Depending on the itinerary and local conditions, expedition activities may include Zodiac cruising, guided landings, kayaking, camping and snowshoeing. These experiences are led by an experienced expedition team of polar specialists and naturalists.
The vessel holds a 1B Ice Class certification and features retractable stabilisers, a bow thruster and modern positioning capabilities. Originally built in 1972, she was extensively rebuilt as an expedition passenger vessel in 2009, received new fuel-efficient engines in 2015–16, underwent interior upgrades in 2019 and is being refurbished for her new chapter with Terra Nova Expeditions in 2026.
