This expedition vessel, the MV Skorpios III, was built in 1995 at the Skorpios shipyard in Chile and was purpose-designed to navigate the remote fjords and channels of southern Patagonia. Constructed with an ice-strengthened hull and in compliance with international maritime safety standards (SOLAS and IMO), the vessel is ideally suited for expedition cruising in glacial environments. Over the years, the ship has undergone refurbishments to enhance passenger comfort while maintaining its authentic expedition character.

The MV Skorpios III accommodates approximately 90–100 passengers in a range of outside cabins, all equipped with private bathrooms and essential amenities. With a length of around 70 metres, the vessel offers an intimate and relaxed onboard atmosphere, allowing guests to fully immerse themselves in the surrounding landscapes. Onboard facilities include comfortable lounges, a dining room, and observation areas where passengers can take in uninterrupted views of Patagonia’s dramatic fjords and glaciers.

Though these voyages are centered on exploration, the MV Skorpios III provides a comfortable and enriching onboard experience. Guests enjoy daily excursions to remote glaciers, fjords, and landing sites using small expedition boats, as well as guided walks through untouched Patagonian terrain. The ship also offers lectures and presentations that delve into the region’s history, geography, and wildlife, complemented by a dining experience that reflects local Chilean and Patagonian influences.

Designed to access narrow channels and secluded waterways, the MV Skorpios III offers journeys through some of the most remote and untouched regions of southern Chile, including routes departing from Puerto Natales. Combining authentic Chilean hospitality with expedition-style exploration, the vessel provides an intimate and immersive way to experience the wild beauty of Patagonia’s southern fjords and glaciers.
