Heritage Adventurer is one of the most storied expedition ships operating today. Often referred to as the “Grande Dame of Polar Exploration,” she was purpose-built in Finland for polar exploration and has spent decades navigating some of the most remote regions on Earth. Formerly known as MS Hanseatic, the vessel has achieved numerous expedition milestones, including voyages through both the Northwest and Northeast Passages and record-setting Arctic and Antarctic expeditions.

Originally designed to carry 184 passengers, Heritage Adventurer now welcomes just 140 guests, creating a more spacious and comfortable onboard experience. This reduced capacity allows for a highly personalised expedition atmosphere while ensuring efficient operations during shore landings and Zodiac excursions. Her fleet of 14 Zodiacs allows all guests to participate fully in daily exploration activities.

The ship combines classic expedition heritage with modern comforts. Spacious public areas include panoramic observation lounges, a lecture theatre, library, wellness centre, gym, sauna, spa, jacuzzi and swimming pool. Large windows throughout the ship ensure guests remain connected to the incredible scenery, whether cruising among Antarctic icebergs or exploring remote islands of the Southern Ocean.

Accommodation consists entirely of outside cabins and suites, many featuring large picture windows and generous living space. The ship offers a range of cabin categories, from Main Deck cabins to luxurious Heritage Suites, providing comfortable accommodations for every style of traveller.

Heritage Adventurer is particularly renowned for its pioneering itineraries throughout Antarctica, the Ross Sea, East Antarctica, New Zealand’s Subantarctic Islands, Japan, the Russian Far East and other remote destinations. Operated by New Zealand-based Heritage Expeditions, the vessel continues a long tradition of immersive, conservation-focused expedition travel led by expert naturalists, historians and wildlife specialists.
